So back in August I played my first gig in 15 years to a well receiving audience and it was encouraging but also on that night there was a lady there who was from the local newspaper and was taking pictures and doing a montage for the area known as The Durham Region. It’s a pretty huge area Durham but nonetheless she was about to leave when I happened to be near her as she was packing up and getting ready to go to her next venue to take more pictures and see what was happening there when I asked her nicely to stick around. “Why’s that?” she asked and my reply was that she was about to witness something that she had never seen before. Intrigued she stuck around to see what it was I was referring to, it was an Open mic night which is great…. BUT!….. she hadn’t planned on seeing my premiere performance playing The Gurum and I was told later that she stuck around to watch the whole first song, “Subtle Grenade Cereal and Oyster Velocity” taking several pictures in the process. So for the next couple of weeks my mum and I would venture out to the Durham region to get copies of this paper to see if I made the grade and to no avail then lo and behold….. THIS…!!!!!!
So THANK YOU VERY MUCH to the Lady who stuck around and believed in me enough that she would see something different and worthy to put in the paper or talk about! Uber Chuffed by this! Adds to the positive vibe of doing more of what I am doing musically and it’s really nice to be noticed! Enjoy
